My love for all things health and fitness began at an early age when I started playing football for Rhode GAA at the age of four. Since then I have always been involved in playing Gaelic football for both club and county. My debut year at senior level with Rhode was in 2011 when we won the intermediate championship, the only Rhode team to ever do so. The following year I made began my senior career with a senior Championship win in 2012. I have been an ever-present on that team ever since winning 7 championships along the way. My first year on the Offaly senior panel was in 2014 and I have played 7 years since then with one year taken out to travel to Australia and another year was taken out to get my business up and running.
My interest in exercise and health led me to complete a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Limerick. I have always enjoyed helping people and the combination of this and my love for all things fitness led me to get my qualification as a personal trainer. I have also recently completed a postgraduate degree at Atlantic Technological University where I received my Master’s in Applied Sports and Exercise Nutrition.
The main reason I got into the area of health and fitness was born out of my passion and love for sports. I am now in the privileged position to be able to help fellow athletes achieve their dreams and goals. It has always been a dream of mine to open my own gym and the Covid-19 pandemic offered me the perfect time to follow that dream. My passion is in helping people reach their individual goals, whether they are female or male, an athlete or a complete beginner. On a day-to-day basis, I see clients walk into the gym feeling low or in a bad mood, and an hour later they leave with a smile on their faces and a weight lifted off their shoulders. The benefits of exercise and the importance of exercise for both general health and mental health are something that drives me every day so that my clients receive the best service possible.

I have always enjoyed improving my fitness due to the physical and mental benefits it gives me. In 2021 I completed a personal training and fitness instructor course. From doing so, it has given me the opportunity to work within the fitness sector. From working alongside my brother Conor, my knowledge around fitness and nutrition has grown. This learning has been facilitated through his vast wealth of knowledge in the area, along with my own studies and both of our participation in Gaelic football at both club and county level.
From the young age of 4, I’ve played football with Rhode GAA. In 2013 I made my senior debut for Rhode, and I’ve been lucky enough to win 6 senior club championships since. I hold my club very close to my heart and most of the best days of my life, have been worn in the green and gold of my club. I’ve been playing with Offaly Senior footballers for 8 years now and I’ve also been lucky enough to represent my county as u21 captain in 2016 and senior vice-captain in 2022, which has been a great privilege for me and my family. I am excited to continue training and playing with Offaly for the next coming years.
I began my coaching journey because I thoroughly enjoy seeing people become the best versions of themselves. Since I began training properly at minor level, I’ve taken a great interest into educating myself on my own training, so that I can be at an optimum level of performance. I really enjoy being able to pass on my knowledge so that the people that I come into contact within a coaching capacity, can also reap the benefits to be at their best.

“When I signed up to do the 6 week S&C program I feared I wasn’t ‘capable’ but under Conor and Ruairi’s guidance my confidence grew and with confidence came strength, the boys passion for this program is infectious, and their nutritional advice and programming is easy to grasp and implement!! If your even thinking about signing up….. Do it, best decision I ever made!!”

"I did the 6 week programme with Conor and Ruairi and loved every minute of it. Before this programme, I wouldn’t have had much gym experience. I would have done exercise classes but never would have used weights or machines in a gym. I would have never felt comfortable going into a gym or had the confidence. The bear trap has such a welcoming atmosphere and I always felt at ease. Conor and Ruairi were so supportive and encouraging throughout the programme. They always checked in to see how things were going. I left every class feeling great. Under the lads guidance, I learned a lot around exercise and nutrition. I noticed changes in my body measurements and fitness. The classes were tough, but you work at your own pace. It was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The programme provided me with confidence both physically and mentally to go into the gym on my own. I could not recommend the programme enough!"

"I decided to do the 6 week s&c programme to primarily lose weight but achieved a complete lifestyle change in the process. over the 6 weeks i learned to count calories and to eat healthier; Conor gave us great advice regarding nutrition and meal ideas. I lost 15 lbs in the course of the 6 weeks and a further 4 in the subsequent weeks as i continued to implement the programme after the 6 weeks had finished. in the past 6 months i have maintained the lifestyle change and have seen so much positive change in not only my physical appearance but my mental health and general motivation. the only negative has been needing a whole new wardrobe! I cannot recommend this programme enough; the two lads are top class and so helpful. you will not regret signing up for the programme. just remember that the lads are only 10% of it, the other 90% is down to you!".

“The 12 week transformation with Conor was an enjoyable experience from the beginning to end. Conor provided me with weekly plans, meal programmes and gym training that were effective and easy to follow. He was always very helpful and approachable, giving me advice and answering any questions that I had. Now that I have finished the programme, I have gained so much knowledge on nutrition and exercise that I will continue to use into the future. I would highly recommend Conor to anyone looking for a healthier lifestyle both physically and mentally”.

“I really enjoyed doing the 12 week programme with Conor. It was the kickstart that I needed to get both my fitness and my diet back on track. The weekly tracker is a great way to keep you motivated knowing that someone is keeping an eye on your progress each week. The meals were both tasty and filling so you don’t feel like you are restricting yourself too much at all. I really enjoyed having a workout plan to work off as well and Conor was very helpful adding videos to each exercise so you don’t have to be an expert to give it a go. I could not be happier with my results including both weight loss and generally feeling better for living a healthier lifestyle”.

"I found Cbear Performance and Nutrition an excellent experience as I wanted to lose weight and tone up. They provided great guidance for nutrition which was very easy to follow as there was a good selection of meals and they were all very tasty. The weekly tracker used was very efficient as you kept on top of it week by week. I found Conor to be very helpful throughout and he nearly couldn’t do enough for me. The gym programme he gave was top class and very enjoyable. I can’t recommend Conor’s services high enough as I have seen massive changes in my body with his excellent plans tailored specifically for me”

“After having not been in a gym for a long time I signed up to the Cbear S&C programme. The course is very well laid out and the lads provide you with easy to follow programmes. The nutrition programme is great as it provides you with a large variety of nice meals and snacks. The classes are very enjoyable and have a good balance of weightlifting and cardio along with the lads guidance. The programme allowed me to regain confidence both mentally and physically and most importantly it has given me the ability to use the gym on my own. Over the six weeks I noticed big improvements in my fitness and physique while having good craic along the way. I highly recommend the 6 week programme, if you are willing to put in the work and take on the lads advice you will definitely get good results and reach your goals”.
Craig Mangan
The programme is tough, but it allows you to work at your own pace and level in a really fun and supportive environment. I have made great friends through the programme and always feel fantastic after a session and the craic with all of the members. I cannot recommend it enough. It is definitely the best investment I have made in myself”
Caoimhe Hope
Under Conor and Ruairi’s expert guidance I have made massive progress in terms of fitness, strength and nutrition knowledge. I am enjoying it so much I have just joined up for my third programme. I have lost weight but more importantly my body measurements are shrinking and I have realised that is more important than the scales.
Caoimhe Hope
“Before I signed up for the 6 week programme I was always dipping in and out of different exercise or not being consistent or making progress. Especially since having kids I found it hard to stick to programmes and make time for myself while juggling a busy family life and working full time. Joining the lads has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
